Dune – land of sand

We were going to see white sands. Sands is not the right word for it – it looks like sand, it feels like sand, but it’s gypsum.

And it is awesome. And hot. Especially on these days. The thermometer went up over 108 °F and so we decided to finish our digging in the sand to go up to the mountains after one hour.

We passed Cloudcroft having some sandwiches at a nice gazebo and a beer in a western bar afterwards. Going on to Mescalero Lake for a scenic view (with our beer) and finally we ended up at Ruidoso for a coffee and pizza. Hey guys, it looks like Austria! Mountains, trees, creeks …
