Unfortunately we had to leave Texas to go on our route in direction of New York. But one of the last things we did, was visiting Port Arthur – Janis Joplin was born and raised there.

Lots of the houses are in really bad conditions or abandoned. Big hurricanes are responsible for that situation. Living was transfered from the port into the heart of the country.

To Johan, Caroline, Rob and Annemarie – our friends from the Netherlands: we’ve been in Nederland! It’s a town a few miles north of Port Arthur and it has a windmill.

Believe me: I definitely prefer the ones I saw in Amsterdam.

Vegetation has changed from the west to the east. So did humidity. It’s green here, and hot. We saw plenty of sugarcane fields and swamps.

And we got caught by a weather storm. I’ve never seen so much water coming from the sky within minutes. And I’m from Austria.

It was raining cats and dogs!

But then there was the sun again and after driving over percived hundreds of bridges, we finally arrived in New Orleans.
